Scottish Premiere for New Game Pine Hearts
Hyper Luminal Games has partnered with Scottish Games Week 2023, giving the studio presence across the whole programme of events, with multiple speakers, exhibition spaces and sponsorship of the new Spirit of Scotland trophy at the Scottish Games Awards.
Scottish Games Week will also play host to the Scottish premiere of Hyper Luminal’s latest original title, Pine Hearts, a narrative adventure that weaves a story of fond memories and growing up, as you uncover secrets, unlock new paths, and submerge yourself in a wholesome land of puzzles and cuteness. Coming to PC and more in 2024.
Hyper Luminal Games is one of Scotland’s fastest-growing and most diverse development studios. Established in 2014 the studios has doubled headcount and revenue year on year – even during lockdown. HLG now has over 80 people, with a commitment to an inclusive and supportive company and team culture.
Starting with games for partners in areas such as education, healthcare, travel and tourism, the studio has created more than multiple games and Pine Hearts will be their first self-published game under their new label Little Nook. Hyper Luminal Games’ success is now allowing the studio to move into creating its own original intellectual property, with new titles in production such as Pine Hearts and the highly-anticipated Cloud Jumper.
Hyper Luminal Games will be present at all of the events across Scottish Games Week, with speakers and exhibition space at the SGW Conference, More Than Games and the Scottish Parliament: GAME ON session. Co-founder Stuart Martin will be participating in the invitation-only Education Symposium at the V&A Dundee and HLG has sponsored the new Spirit Of Scotland category in the 2023 Scottish Games Awards.
Stuart Martin, the co-founder and CEO of Hyper Luminal Games, said: “As one of Scotland’s leading games studios Hyper Luminal are delighted to support such an important initiative in raising awareness of the Scottish Games cluster and the significant role it plays in supporting Scotland’s wider economy. We are delighted to play our part in helping to establish the Scottish Games Industry Week as a permanent must-go to annual event.”.
Rob Madden, the co-founder and Creative Director of Hyper Luminal Games, said: “We can’t wait to demo Pine Hearts, our first original game in five years, at Scottish Games Week, and see gamers enjoy what our studio has created. It will provide invaluable exposure and feedback as we run up to our worldwide launch in March 2024.”
Sean Tracey, the chair of Hyper Luminal Games, said: “Hyper Luminal Games have created over 40 jobs in the Dundee games industry in the last 18 months. With two of the studio’s own original titles being developed in Pine Hearts and Cloud Jumper, and our own independent publishing label Little Nook launching this year, 2023 has been an exciting and significant year of investment and growth for the company, culminating in our support for the brilliant Scottish Games Week initiative”
Brian Baglow, the founder of Scottish Games Week, said: “We are honoured to have Hyper Luminal Games join us as a partner across the whole of Scottish Games Week. I’ve watched the studio grow and evolve over the last several years to become a real powerhouse in Scotland’s games ecosystem. They have an incredible team culture, they produce excellent work and they’re incredibly generous in terms of giving back to the rest of the community.
I’m looking forward to hearing from Stuart, Rob, Searra and the rest of the team members, and finding out more about the studio’s success. Plus I’m looking forward to playing Pine Hearts for the first time!”
