Johnston Carmichael Returns as Sponsor for Scottish Games Week 2023

Johnston Carmichael, Scotland’s largest firm of chartered accountants and business advisers has returned to Scottish Games Week 2023 as an official sponsor.

The business, which advises a growing number of game developers, has chosen to sponsor the event to continue its support of the growing and rapidly-evolving games ecosystem in this country.

The firm works with a range of companies in the wider tech industry, from start-ups to international corporates. Its ground-breaking Tech Advisory Board, which helps its clients access expert advice on achieving growth, includes Scots gaming figure Colin Macdonald – a former producer on Grand Theft Auto.

Johnston Carmichael offers specialist advice for video game developers and has expertise in raising finance and global expansion, as well as offering dedicated assistance to companies in the sector with Video Games Tax Relief (VGTR), to help firms to navigate legislation and receive the maximum relief available.

Andrew McMillan – Tax Partner, Johnston Carmichael said: “The Inaugural Scottish Games Week was a major success for the sector and we were delighted to support it. The UK games sector is a true pillar of the modern UK economy.  The track record of the Scottish ecosystem in delivering world leading talent and IP is astonishing, and we are excited to extend our support of Scottish Games Week for a second year, as it establishes itself as a key event on the games calendar.

As a firm, we are proud to be embedded in the Scottish tech ecosystem. We have clients at all stages of business growth, from disruptive start-ups to multinational household names and have a proven track record of developing long and lasting client relationships.  We understand the common challenges faced by gaming companies at each stage of the growth journey and take a practical tailored approach to each client.

Our specialist gaming team will be involved across various events at Scottish Games Week, including at the conference at Dynamic Earth.  We are looking forward to catching up with clients and contacts from across the industry along with making new connections.”

Catch Andrew at the two-day Industry Conference in Edinburgh where he will discuss the mechanics of video games tax relief, and the recently announced Video Games Expenditure Credit.
